SUMMARY OF THE SKF TACHOMETER
The tachometer is an addition to the range of measuring equipment that Scope has designed for SKF. It connects to, among other things, the shaft alignment tool and the stroboscope.
The tachometer is a intelligent handheld tester, to determine rotational and linear speeds. The device enables quick, simple measurements at a safe distance from rotating machines. In this way, an inspection can take place while a machine is operational, so that the machine does not have to be stopped. Consider, for example, a conveyor belt.
COMPACT
AND USEFUL
The project started with an exploratory study, during which extensive discussions were held with technicians who work with the products on a daily basis as end users. This has created a good picture of the success factors of the product.
PEN TYPE SHAPE
The tachometer has a 'pen-type' orientation allowing it to be held in the hand in various ways and to take measurements in more difficult to reach positions. It is a compact and handy product that fits in a technician's pocket. Due to prominent buttons, the tachometer can also be operated easily with gloves.
TWO WAYS TO MEASURE
The tachometer can be measured in two ways: mechanically using the various wheels that can be mounted on the axle or optically using an integrated laser. For laser operation, the user can easily remove the front housing part.
MORE THAN JUST
THE MINIMUM
The tachometer uses the same components as the stethoscope which will be introduced in the market at a later date. This leads to a significant cost reduction for the housing parts and reduction in mold investment.
The measured values can be read from a 2.4 inch display. The controls, including wireframes, flowcharts and graphic detailing, have been developed by Scope as an integral part. This leads to a high-quality appearance and high ease of use.
